Tweet embedding not working

You many have come across some pages on the internet proclaiming how easy it is to embed individual tweets in your posts or pages.  Just to list a couple:

Unfortunately our version of WordPress has a bug that prevents it from properly communicating with the Twitter API. This issue should be resolved when we next upgrade WordPress.

Unless indicated otherwise we try to upgrade WordPress after each semester.

How to configure “The Really Simple Twitter Feed” widget

  1. Make Sure the plugin is “Activated”.  Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and find The Really Simple Twitter Feed and click activate.
  2. Go to Appearance > Widgets and drag the Really Simple Twitter widget to your desired Widget Area
  3. Next is the fun part.  In order to get the feed to connect to you twitter account you need to create a new application.  Twitter Authentication
  4. Click the here link and log in to your twitter account.
  5. Click the Create a new application button.
  6. Fill out the required fields, agree to the terms and enter in the captcha.

  7. Now grab the Consumer Key  and Consumer Secret and throw them into the appropriate fields in the widget.
  8. Back on the Twitter Developer Page click the Create my access token button at the bottom of the page.
  9. Click the OAuth tool tab near the top of the page.
  10. Now grad the Access Token and Access Token Secret and copy and paste them into their respective fields.
  11. Enter your Twitter username in the widget box and adjust the remain settings as desired.
  12. Click save and go to your page and you should see you’re twitter feed.
